La Petite Marquise' du Clos du Marquis 2018, Saint Julien 《WC Selection - ZF752A》

The name of this wine, created at thebeginning of the 20th century when the vineyard was planted, was inspired bythe Petit Clos adjacent to the Château de Léoville, residence of the Marquis deLas Cases.

Clos du Marquis is a historical brand by the Domaines Delon, at the very origina separate vineyard to Leoville Las Cases whose first vintage was released in1902.

The creation of this brand allowed toproduce a wine enjoying the best of these distinct terroirs. The situationremains unchanged today as the vineyard producing the Clos du Marquis islocated on top terroirs of the Saint Julien appellation, the main part beingsurrounded by such prestigious Classified Growths as Léoville Poyferré andLéoville Barton.

As new young vines were coming intoproduction on the Clos du Marquis vineyard, and in the aim of preserving itsacclaimed quality, a decision was made to create its own second wine. Producedfrom grapes grown for the vast majority on the superb Clos du Marquis terroirs,La Petite Marquise shows great subtlety and refinement. With its harmoniousexpression and delicate tannic structure, this wine is elegantly seductive andenchanting. To be enjoyed relatively young due to the dominance of Merlot inthe blend.
