🌟 Saint Emilion Grand Cru
🏅Vivino 4.0
Chateau Les Clavelines is a boutique winery in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru on the right bank of Bordeaux, France, known for its elegant and delicate red wines.
The history of the winery can be traced back to the late 19th century, but its exact origins are still unclear. In 2015, French winemaker Johan Aubert acquired the winery. The Aubert family has a deep winemaking tradition in Bordeaux, and its family-owned Chateau La Couspaude is a Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion.
Johan Aubert focuses on terroir expression and uses a combination of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. He insists on hand-picking grapes, controlling yields to ensure fruit concentration, and using French oak barrels for aging to soften tannins and add complex aromas.
The vineyard covers an area of about 3.5 hectares. The soil is sandy clay (Argilo-Sableux) with limestone at the bottom. It has good drainage and is suitable for the growth of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Saint-Emilion has a mild maritime climate, hot summers and humid winters, which is conducive to the ripening and flavor accumulation of grapes.
Hand-picking and screening, the grapes are manually selected bunch by bunch after ripening to ensure the quality of the fruit. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the maceration time is about 2-3 weeks to extract rich pigments and tannins. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12-18 months, of which the proportion of new barrels is about 30%-50%, which is adjusted according to the year and wine style.
Chateau Les Clavelines is a "hidden pearl" in the Saint-Emilion region. Although it has not been listed as a classified winery, its wines have excellent performance in terms of cost-effectiveness and quality due to its superb winemaking technology and terroir characteristics. For lovers who pursue the elegant style of the right bank of Bordeaux, it is one of the wineries worth paying attention to.
