Les Heritiers Saint Genys Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes 2020《ZTF136》

Les Heritiers Saint-Genys is a new winery in Chassagne-Montrachet, acquired by Patrice du Jeu and his uncle in 2011. Jean Baptiste Alinc serves as winemaker and cellar master.

The winery has vineyards in various appellations, including Côte de Beaune, Côte Châlonnaise, and Beaujolais. In 2016, it even acquired a dedicated vineyard, Clos Marcilly, in Mercurey, totaling approximately 13 hectares. They avoid herbicides and minimize the use of chemical pesticides. In 2017, they even implemented animal traction to maintain vineyard health.

Although the winery may not have much of a history, its wine review scores are exceptionally high! James Suckling has rated none of their wines below 90 points, with many in the 95s and even reaching 98!

Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes is located south of the village of Meursault, adjacent to Puligny-Montrachet. Nestled on the rolling slopes of the Côte d'Or, it enjoys an ideal southeast-facing position, allowing the vines to receive ample sunlight. The soil is primarily limestone and clay, particularly rich in marl. This structure facilitates good water drainage, creating excellent conditions for producing exceptionally flavorful Chardonnay.

Meursault enjoys a long-standing reputation in the wine world, and Les Charmes, as one of the largest and most important 1er Crus in the region, has historically been a pillar of Meursault. The vineyard, divided into several small plots, has been producing high-quality white wines since the 19th century, earning widespread recognition in global markets. While not enjoying the unwavering prestige of a Grand Cru, Les Charmes' reputation and quality have placed it on par with other Grand Crus.
