Maycas del Limari is located in the Limari Valley wine region, 400 kilometers north of Santiago, Chile. In the past 10 years, Limari Valley has experienced a period of rapid growth, with the vineyard area growing from 93 hectares in 1995 to 1,667 hectares today. In 2005, Concha y Toro, Chile's largest wine industry group, purchased Francisco's Aguirre Winery and its vineyards to create Maycas del Limari. After careful vineyard planning, the winery has been able to plant the most suitable grape varieties on this mineral-rich terroir, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Syrah, and brew a wine that perfectly expresses Limari. Valley terroir.

Starting from the Peruvian city of Cusco in the south, the Inca Empire continued to grow along the Andes Mountains, extending its borders to more than 5,000 kilometers. The Limari Valley is what they call the Southern Empire, famous for its minerals such as copper, gold and blue-green semi-precious stones. Limari Valley is also testament to the influence of the Inca Empire civilization that continues to this day. In the Limari Valley, you can see buildings made of rainstone in typical Inca architectural style.

In the Inca language Quechua, "Maycas" means cultivated land, and their use of indica and the sun is the core of Inca culture. In order to determine agricultural growth cycles, the Incas also invented the solar calendar we use today. The labels used on the winery’s wines pay tribute to this powerful civilization that once dominated the Limari Valley.

Maycas del Limari has many high-quality vineyards, including Quebrada Seca, El Trapich, San Julian and Nueva Aurora ). These vineyards have ideal climatic conditions and soil. The cool breeze blowing from the coast can effectively regulate the high temperature of Limari Valley, and the misty morning weather in the valley can extend the ripening period of the grapes. Northern Chile has always been known for its strong sunshine, so even if there is morning fog in the valley, it will not affect the grapes from reaching optimal ripeness. In addition, the soil in the park is mostly limestone soil, which is rich in minerals and helps to add a unique mineral flavor to the grapes. Currently, the vineyards are mainly planted with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir varieties.

In addition to having high-quality terroir, Maycas del Limari’s winemaker, Marcelo Papa, is the technical director of Concha y Toro. His winemaking skills are very exquisite, which has laid a solid foundation for the winery to produce wines of excellent quality. He found that Limari Valley’s calcareous soil, mild summers, strong sunshine and cool morning breezes made Limari Valley an ideal grape-growing area, allowing the grapes to reach ideal maturity and develop extremely rich aroma and flavor. . At the German Wine and Spirits Expo (ProWein) on March 18, 2019, Master of Wine Tim Atkin MW released the "2019 Chile Special Report" and selected Marcelo Papa as the "Winemaker of the Year". This means that Marcelo Papa is already among the world’s elite winemakers, which also reflects his outstanding talent in wine making.
