Mosgaard Whiskey is beautifully decorated in lovely surroundings on South Funen, in a beautiful and idyllically situated disused farm with views of apple orchards and Langelandssundet from our premises.
Sydfyn is known for its high food quality, and Mosgaard Whiskey will continue to work in this spirit to develop high-quality products based on the best organic ingredients.
The distillery is a micro distillery with good craft methods according to Scottish tradition that ensures very high quality in our products
Mosgaard Whiskey was founded in 2015 and owned by Gitte and Jes Mosgaard, as well as supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Gin
Mosgaard Whiskey can offer a number of different organic gin’s, which like whiskey are all exciting new interpretations of classic products.
They are perfect for Gin and Tonic, cocktails or to enjoy clean, to get the full feel of the complex flavor nuances that come from organic wheat, botanicals and citrus fruits.
Our gin is distilled on a hybrid steam infusion kettle designed by Mosgaard Whiskey. Gin is distilled with a mix of organic junipers, botanicals and citrus fruits. During distillation, the alcohol fumes hit the botanicals and gently extracts flavors and aromas that add to the sweetness of the wheat alcohol. We only use fresh citrus fruits to make the fine notes as natural as possible.
The distillery
Our distillery is specially designed by Mosgaard Whiskey and handmade by skilled craftsmen in Portugal. Thousands of hammer blows have been struck to hit exactly the shape we wanted, so we achieve the specific flavor profile that characterizes our products.
During the production process, we give ourselves plenty of time - both for mashing to get the right taste out of the barley malt, but also for the fermentation process where we spend twice as much time on the fermentation as is typically used at Scottish distilleries. This means fewer unwanted flavors from the yeast cells, which have the peace to develop and convert the sugars into alcohol in the raw brew.
After brewing, distill twice - both times slowly to ensure the purest "new spirit" as end product. A product that already has the taste and purity that characterizes our finished Whiskey, and already here tastes sweet of malt with notes of i.a. peaches and apples - like a real Funen Whiskey.
Barrel storage
After distillation, the dishes are filled with new spirit and placed in our warehouse. The warehouse is built specifically for the purpose, with the opportunity to follow the positive impact of the seasons on the contents of the barrels. It is important to have the right humidity, the clean fresh air from the surroundings and the impact of the Sound that is close by.
The wood breathes throughout the year, and the Whiskey moves in and out through the inner part of the wood in the casks. In a fascinating process, the alcohol draws flavors out of the wood and the whiskey gets its color and sweetness with notes of i.a. caramel and vanilla completely depending on the nature of it.
It can be smelled and felt that a percentage disappears from the barrels every year as the angels' share "Angels Share", an inevitable and necessary process for maturation, which also gives a condensed and nice scent in the warehouse that can be experienced when visiting the barrels.
Ecology
Mosgaard Whiskey has chosen to use only the best organic ingredients for our spirits. The ecology ensures the absolute highest purity in the taste, and together with the high quality of the water on South Funen, it helps to ensure the greatest possible purity in the finished product. DESCRIPTION
Organic GinGin 50 CL / 46% ABV.
Powerful gin with double the amount of juniper - hence the name GinGin. A Gin to gin lovers who want heavy juniper notes and full slap on the palate. All botanicals match each other and give a cooling mouthfeel towards the juniper weight. A fantastic cocktail gin that is tasted in complex cocktails, or a slim Gin and Tonic.
Botanicals: double the amount of juniper, fennel, anise seeds, cloves, Indonesian long pepper, coriander seeds, lemongrass and fresh peel of lime and lemon.
Garnish: fresh mint leaves, fresh basil, lemon verbena, lime
Mixers: Fevertree Aromatic, Fevertree Indian Premium
