Cielo e Terra was founded in 1908. The bond between the Cielo family and the land began in the Valle del Chiampo, specifically in the Casa Defrà estate, in the Cielo family vineyards. In 1908, the new family business founded by Giovanni Cielo began to take shape and blossom: customers from the Valle del Chiampo began to order the winery’s products, and the winery’s business slowly spread from the Valle del Chiampo to the neighboring villages.
Under the careful management of Pietro Cielo, the second-generation owner of the winery, the winery has further developed and the business has been further expanded. His deep love for the land has led to his traditional dedication to the winemaking process, as well as to his practice of social welfare and his silent protection of the land under his feet. In 1962, eight brothers from three generations of the Cielo family took over the family business. Due to their love for wine, the brothers built a new wine cellar and began to expand their business tentacles across Italy. However, such small-scale production could not meet the market demand, so the Cielo family began to acquire other wineries to better manage the land for winemaking.
After the fourth generation Luca and Pierpaolo took over the winery, adhering to the Cielo family's philosophy of adhering to tradition, relying on the cooperation of more than 2,000 grape growers in Colli Berici and the high quality and reputation of its wines, the winery's business has made leaps and bounds. At this time, the winery has become a leader in large-scale retail trade in the Italian wine industry. Not only that, the winery's international business is also constantly expanding and growing.
The original landform of the hills of Colli Berici is an ancient volcano between Verona and Pauda, with the hills in the north backed by Vicenza. The hills face the sun and have a mild climate. They are a hotbed for almost all Mediterranean plants to grow, so the history of grape cultivation here is thousands of years old. The Berici hills have also been used to grow wine for centuries. The indigenous grape varieties here, such as Turbiana, Garganega, and Tai Rosso, are famous for preserving ancient traditions.
The cooperating grape growers have a total of more than 4,000 hectares of vineyards. Their harvest is not only the result of the grapes, but also the experience and reputation accumulated from generation to generation. It is worth mentioning that the vineyards can overlook the famous "Romeo and Juliet" castle. The romantic love place has endowed this vineyard with sweet wine.
The success of Colli Berici's Cielo e Terra winery is due to the three wine cellars in Lonigo, Barbarano, San Bonifacio and Corlanzone. Before the grapes arrive at the winery, they are carefully selected by hand. The year, production area and sugar content are strictly controlled to ensure the quality of the wine. The winemaking technology is basically low-temperature fermentation and soft pressing to ensure the aroma and complexity of the wine. Some of the superstar wines are aged in oak barrels to increase the vintage of the grapes. Colli Berici's Cielo e Terra is equipped with a 10,000 square meter winery with the latest technology. The winemaking technology of Cielo e Terra meets the Unieniso 9001 standard.
In terms of grape cultivation, Cielo e Terra pays special attention to environmental protection. It has been practicing the concept of organic cultivation for more than ten years. The results of the organic cultivation project: more than 60 hectares of vineyards have reached the CCPB standards. These standards pay great attention to the winery's efforts to protect the environment. On the basis of not damaging the environment, it strives to achieve a golden balance between economy and environment, and finally provides consumers with high-quality wine.
