🏅San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) - Double Gold 2021
🏅International Spirits Challenge(ISC)- GOLD MEDAL 2021
Since 1812, the Royal Brackla (Royal Brackla) winery has been located in the Cawdor Estate near Naim in the Scottish Highlands. The location of the distillery produces fruity and rich whiskey year after year.
The distillery was founded by Lieutenant William Fraser, who was stationed in India before taking over the 300-acre Brackla farm owned by his father and turning it into a whiskey distillery. Since the Brackla distillery was established before Excise Ac passed in 1823 (the legalization of British whiskey and the establishment of tax laws), William Fraser obeyed the law and paid taxes, so it was difficult for him to sell his whiskey to people within a radius of 120 miles in the early days. The common people and other distilleries suffered from the rampage of bootleggers around them, so he had an idea to sell whiskey to London, the wealthy capital, by sea. He once said that the wine he sold to London in his life was far more than that sold to his surroundings. Wenduo of the distillery, so his whiskey was almost enjoyed by the upper-class elite in London at that time, and was therefore favored by the then Citizen King William IV.
William IV deeply fell in love with the delicate flavor of Brackla whiskey, and even more unprecedentedly issued the Royal Warrant to a Scotch whiskey distillery on August 15, 1833. Today's Royal Brackla. Royal Brackla is the first of only three single malt whiskey distilleries in the history of Scotch whiskey to do so.
In 1837, shortly after her accession to the throne, Queen Victoria renewed the order to recognize it as one of Britain's most famous whiskeys. Royal Brackla is also known as "The King's Own Whiskey", that is, "the king's own whiskey".
Like many Scotch whiskey distilleries, the Royal Brackla Distillery has had a rocky fortune. Since the end of the 19th century, this distillery with the royal name has been constantly being resold. Even in the process, the distillery has experienced expansion-the number of distillers has increased from 2 to 4, which means that As the production of the winery has increased, it cannot stop the tragic fate of having to close in 1985. Fortunately, 6 years later, the distillery reopened and was later acquired by Dewar's whiskey, becoming an important part of its blended whiskey.
Aside from the "Royal" designation, what makes Royal Brackla unique is the slow distillation process. Most people are most impressed with Royal Brackla because of its strong floral and fruity aroma. From the perspective of the production process, you will find that the gene of fruity aroma has been written in since the beginning of fermentation. Compared with most Scottish wineries, it takes 48-55 hours to make Fermentation, Royal Brackla chose to spend a longer 70 hours, giving the yeast enough time to create more aromas, which left a good foundation for the whiskey to exude a rich fruity aroma.
Royal Brackla uses an unusually tall still that distills intentionally slowly, with a slightly raised Lyne Arm combined with a high neck to promote reflux and increase contact with copper to filter out unwanted sulfur notes , produces a clean taste with hints of grain, fruit and aroma. This is one of the reasons why Royal Brackla can show a rich and unrestrained aroma under a smooth body. The annual distillation volume of the distillery is only about 4.1 million liters, which is also a representative of the slow work of Scotch whiskey. Royal Brackla is particularly fond of brewing in first-fill oloroso sherry casks.
At the same time, the body of the Royal Brackla has a clean acidity, and it is this characteristic that gives it a powerful flavor when it is aged in first-fill sherry casks. Rich and powerful, it offers notes of musky sweetness, candied dates and walnut in a rich depth. One of the oldest distilleries in the world, Royal Brackla also produces some of Dewar's whiskey.
After several ups and downs, Royal Brackla knows the importance of continuous breakthroughs and innovations, so Stephanie Macleod, the master bartender of the brand, has made unremitting efforts to prepare a brand new Royal Brackla.
This female whiskey blender who has created history in the whiskey industry has won the reputation of "International Whiskey Competition Annual Blender" for three consecutive years, and has integrated her life experience into the research and development of new wines.
Finally, in September 2021, Royal Brackla will be released again with a brand new single malt whiskey series, and won the "San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) - Double Gold 2021": There are a total of three in this new series, namely 12 , 18 and 21 years, all in Sherry casks.
