Chateau Senejac (also known as Chateau Sonia) is one of the wineries in the Haut-Medoc region of Bordeaux, France. It was included in the Cru Bourgeois list released by the Alliance of Bourgeois Winery in 2012. Senejac, once a middle-class chateau, has always been a representative of value for money. Even the notoriously vicious Jancis Robinson once called the 2010 Senejac one of his favorite middle-class chateaus that year! !
It is currently known that the first owner of Chateau Senejac was the noble Baron de Hoberaux in the 16th century. According to records, the cultivation of vines began when Baron de Hoberaux took charge of the winery. By the mid-19th century, Chateau Senejac's wine production could reach 100,000 bottles. After being purchased by former Chateau Talbot owner Lorraine Cordier in 1999, the quality of the wine began to improve. After Lorraine's death, it was run by his sister Nancy Bignon Cordier, coupled with the Chateau Pontet Canet winemaking team headed by Alfred Tesseron, plus With the support of Eric Boissenot, a winemaking consultant for many first-class growths, there is no doubt about the quality!
Chateau Senejac's current vineyard area is 39 hectares, of which 48% is used to cultivate Cabernet Sauvignon (Cabernet Sauvignon), 37% of the land is used to cultivate Merlot (Merlot), and 11% of the land is used to cultivate Cabernet Franc (Cabernet Franc). Cabernet Franc), 4% of the land is used to cultivate Petit Verdot (Petit Verdot), the average age of all these grapevines is 35 years, and the soil used to cultivate these grapevines is gravel. When the grapes reach the ideal ripeness state, the winery will pick them manually. After the picked grapes are screened and skinned, they will enter stainless steel fermentation tanks with temperature control functions for fermentation. The fermented wine will then be matured in French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months, and finally in the wine Bottled in-house.
