葡萄園位於朝南的坡地上。 葡萄種植面積為19.5公頃,黏土石灰岩與沙質黏土使得土地性質複雜而獨特。就土壤表層而言,愈遠離坡底,土壤中的沙質成分愈顯著。葡萄樹的平均樹齡為50年。雖說梅洛(Merlot)是右岸葡萄品種之王,但由於園內土壤的排水性非常好,且能夠較好地保存熱量,對品麗珠(Cabernet Franc)和赤霞珠(Cabernet Sauvignon)的生長極為有利,因此酒莊根據實際情況確定了葡萄園內的種植比例為50%梅洛、40%品麗珠以及10%赤霞珠。這三個品種混釀既不會掩蓋梅洛柔順而飽滿的風采,還能為酒款增添精緻而複雜的香氣以及強勁的力道,共同造就 Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere 葡萄酒複雜、優雅而細膩的特質。此外,秉著崇尚風土的理念,Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere 從 1988年起開始在園內推行有機種植模式,深入研究土壤並針對不同風土採用最適合的種植技術,以促進生態系統的自我保護。經過他們的不懈努力,Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere 於2014年獲得有機認證,走在聖埃美隆列級莊的前列。

This is one of the top estates of St.-Emilion. The ambitious proprietor, Comtes de Neipperg, is to be commended on the terrific job he has done at Canon-la-Gaffeliere since the mid-eighties. A dense purple color is accompanied by strikingly pure aromas of Provencal olives, jammy cassis, and smoky pain grillee notes. Ripe and fat, this medium to full-bodied, moderately tannic, muscular yet elegant wine needs another 2-4 years of cellaring. It should keep for 16-17 years. It is an impressive, well-balanced 1994.

This fragrant, lush, seductive wine offers up plum, Christmas spices and crème de cassis. This dense garnet/purple wine also has loads of blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, terrific aromatics, a full-bodied mouthfeel, beautiful purity, texture, and a long, long finish.

La Gaffelière, now under the expert guidance of Saint-Emilion’s guruStéphane Derenoncourt, is producing serious wine. None more so than this firmlyclosed but powerful and dense 2006. Bitter chocolate and dark tannins come together to form a shell covering the weight of the fruit. It will probablyalways be firm, but the black currant fruit flavors will come through eventually—maybe in 5–7 years.

Bright medium ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines blackberry, violet,tobacco leaf, licorice and cedar. Dense, lush, sweet and fine-grained, with awonderfully pliant, silky texture devoid of rough edges. Utterly seamless,savory wine but with no shortage of vinosity or energy. Finishes suave and very long.

The aromas are very complex with sweet tobacco, black truffles, blueberries and blackberries. Subtle. Menthol, too. Full-bodied yet so elegant. Structure with finesse and purity. The tannins are melted in the wine. Fabulous young wine.
