Louis XIII Remy Martin Cognac Brandy

Louis XIII, a century-old French cognac brand, was founded in 1874 by Paul Émile Rémy Martin, the fourth generation descendant of Remy Martin. This year is also the 150th anniversary of the founding of Remy Martin (1724).

The origin of the brand name "Louis XIII" is closely related to Louis XIII (1601-1643), the second king of the French Bourbon dynasty. According to the official website of Louis XIII and the official information of Remy Martin, in 1850 Paul Émile bought a Renaissance Baroque style wine bottle found on an ancient battlefield of Louis XIII near Jarnac. The bottle was printed with Royal lily decoration, so he applied for a copy patent. After that, he founded "Louis XIII" inspired by this and designed the classic bottle shapes of "Louis XIII and Remy Martin". It is also said that the name "Louis XIII" is to commemorate Louis XIII's authorization to classify Cognac separately in "Water of Life", but the author has not retrieved more formal information, and the name of the origin of Cognac is It was only formally implemented in the early 20th century. Although the latter statement is somewhat cliche, it is true that the name "Louis XIII" Cognac originated from Louis XIII.

Paul Émile was already old when he founded Louis XIII, and he passed away the following year. It was his son Paul Rémy Martin who really started running Louis XIII. Relying on Remy Martin's century-old reputation, Louis XIII's market opened up very quickly. Only two years after its founding (1876), it was already sold to the United States and registered in the United States. Four years later (1880), Louis XIII arrived in Shanghai for the first time. In 1900, Louis XIII appeared at the Paris World's Fair in an attempt to reach a broader market.

In 1924, André Renaud, Paul Rémy Martin's partner, took full control of Remy Martin after his death and also took over Louis XIII. After André Renaud, Remy Martin and Louis XIII were managed by his eldest son-in-law and granddaughter. In 1991, Rémy Martin Group and Cointreau Group merged to form Rémy Martin Cointreau Group, and Louis XIII also belonged to this group.
