The origin of the name “La Pointe” isbased on the particular geometry of its vineyard, since just at the entrance tothe estate it is possible to observe a large plot of triangular shape, shapedtip. Throughout history we find traces of Château La Pointe from 1868, thenranked among the “first” alongside the castles Beauregard, Clinet, Councilor,Gazin, etc … At that time, the castle was the property of Monsieur Grandet whobrought the most diligent care to his vineyard. Subsequently, Château La Pointehas always produced quality wines, even if it was “drowsy” a few years … It isin 2007, when the property is bought, that it is revitalized by the arrival ofits new General Manager: Eric Monneret!

The terroir of Château La Pointe covers23 hectares in one piece, which is rare in the small appellation of Pomerol.Its plots are contiguous to the Trotanoy & Nénin castle. The soils aredivided between gravel and pebbles terraces Isle, clay-gravelly and sandy clayand on gravel. The grape variety is composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.Viticulture is conducted with respect for the environment. At Château La Pointeit is only the natural cycle of living that is required.

  Château La Pointe winemaking involves meticulous vineyard management, with hand-harvesting and a rigorous double sorting process to select only the best grapes. The grapes are then fermented in temperature-controlled concrete or stainless steel tanks, with extraction techniques like punching down the cap or pumping over used to enhance color and aroma. Following this, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, typically for 12 to 18 months, before blending the different plots for the final wine.

Clarity and depth to the blueberry and raspberry fruit, they have done an excellent job of working with a hot dry vintage to still deliver this estate's trademark charm. Located on soils with plenty of gravel that needed careful attention, and yet this delivers a juicy, fresh core with finely shaped tannins and a moreish salinity on the finish.
