Opus One Winery 作品一號酒莊由 Baron Philippe de Rothschild 男爵和 Robert Mondavi 共同建立。來自法國的 Philippe 男爵是當時的 Chateau Mouton Rothschild 木桐酒莊莊主,正是在他的不懈努力下,木桐酒莊於 1973 年從波爾多二級莊晉升為一級莊,而 Robert 則是美國加州釀酒史上最重要的先驅之一,不僅首創了 Fume Blanc 白富美葡萄酒,還是引入高密度種植、溫控發酵、法國橡木桶陳年等種植和釀造技術的第一人。1979年,時任木桐酒莊釀酒師的 Lucien Sionneau 和 Robert 的兒子 Timothy Mondavi 首次合作釀造葡萄酒;次年,木桐酒莊與 Mondavi 蒙大維酒莊正式宣佈建立合資酒莊,但當時新酒莊和新酒款的名字並未確定。




1982 年,Philippe 男爵和 Robert 開始為新酒款設計酒標,二人決定使用源自拉丁語的辭彙為酒莊和酒款命名,以便英語和法語使用者都能理解。最初 Philippe 男爵提議的名字是 「Opus」,這是一個常出現在古典音樂曲目名稱中的詞語,用於表示某位作曲家的曲目順序編號。不久後,Philippe 又建議在 「Opus」 後加上 「One」 一詞,至此合資酒莊的名字確定為 「Opus One」 作品一號,其酒款與酒莊同名。1984 年、1979 年份和 1980 年份的作品一號同時面市,憑藉卓越的品質不僅一躍成為美國第一款超高端酒款,也迅速打開了國際市場,也因此贏得了Robert Parker、James Suckling和Jeannie Cho Lee MW等眾多酒評家的高度評價。2005 年,Constellation Brands Inc. 收購了 Robert Mondavi 公司,由此獲得了 Opus One 作品一號酒莊 50% 的股份。目前,作品一號酒莊由木桐酒莊和 Constellation Brands Inc. 共同擁有,但酒莊在葡萄園管理、國內外銷售及經營三方面具有獨立執行權。此後酒價節節高攀,收藏家前仆後繼的買進,目前已成為全世界最受歡迎的膜拜酒。




在與 Timothy Mondavi 合作釀造 Opus One 作品一號數年後,Lucien 於 1985 年退休。Patrick Leon 接棒成為木桐酒莊新一任釀酒師,同時也成為作品一號酒莊新的合作釀酒師,曾這樣強調:“我們追求的不是卓越,我們追求完美!”與 Timothy 一起續寫作品一號的傳奇故事。2004 年,酒莊董事會任命 Michael Silacci 為釀酒師,全權負責葡萄種植與釀酒相關事宜,他曾經在 Stap’s Leap Wine Cellars 鹿躍酒莊當過釀酒師,他的釀酒藝術是將直覺和技術的敏銳度與葡萄種植者和釀酒師的雙重視角相結合,從品嘗漿果到仔細分揀直至在新法國橡木桶中陳釀,釀酒過程的每個階段都得到同樣細緻的考慮和關注。




雖然釀酒師數經變更,但釀造卓越的葡萄酒一直是 Opus One 作品一號酒莊不變的使命,為了達到這一目標,酒莊對待每一個釀酒環節都絕不含糊。酒莊使用的釀酒葡萄共有五種 —— Cabernet Sauvignon、Merlot、Cabernet Franc、Petit Verdot和Malbec。葡萄在經由手工採摘和嚴選後,首先進行去梗等處理,接著在重力的作用下進入不銹鋼罐中發酵,來自不同地塊的葡萄會被置入不同的罐中分開進行發酵。由於每個不銹鋼罐在一個年份裏只使用一次,葡萄的浸漬和發酵時間相當充分,這就使得果汁得以從果皮、果肉和葡萄籽中獲得豐富的色素和風味物質。發酵完成得到的自流酒和壓榨酒會被分開裝入法國橡木桶中陳年,部分壓榨酒會被用於作品一號的混釀中,以給葡萄酒帶來結構感。在經過約 18 個月的桶陳後,酒莊工作人員會使用新鮮蛋清對葡萄酒進行澄清,然後將酒液裝瓶,裝瓶後的葡萄酒還要再經過 18 個月的瓶陳才得以上市。從開始收穫葡萄到該年份作品一號的最終上市,需要超過三年的時間。




Opus One 作品一號酒莊目前共擁有 4 個葡萄園,葡萄園總占地面積達到 68.8 公頃。1981 年,Robert 將 Mondavi 酒莊 To-Kalon Vineyard 占地 14.2 公頃的 Q 地塊出售給作品一號酒莊;兩年後,酒莊買下了占地 20.2 公頃的 River Parcel,又在接下來的一年中將毗鄰 River Parcel 且面積相仿的 Ballestra Vineyard 買下。2008 年,酒莊從 Mondavi 酒莊處獲得了 To-Kalon 園占地 19.4 公頃的 K 地塊,葡萄園面積得以進一步擴大。值得一提,To-Kalon Vineyard 這裡出產納帕最搶手、最昂貴的 Cabernet Sauvignon,有特級園之稱的北美第一園。在葡萄園管理方面,作品一號酒莊並不拘泥於傳統,而是會對出現的新科技和新方法進行研究和評估,將有利於葡萄園發展的及時引入實踐。

這是很高層次的呢!!又柔和又優雅,跟「Mouton」板起面孔的印象完全相反,就算是仍然僵硬的04年也會露出微笑。

的確很美味,不過我卻無法看出,到底這抹微笑是否從心底發出的。

真正的微笑,還是需要經過一定熟成後才會露出的。

只不過,它毫無疑問是提早喝也會微笑的葡萄酒。

Extremely perfumed and floral with lavender, lilacs and violets to the sweet, ripe berries, such as blackberries and blackcurrants. Some slate and graphite, too. It’s full-bodied, yet ever so balanced and refined, with super fine tannins that last for minutes. Fresh herbs, such as bay leaf and lemon grass highlight the dark fruit. The quality of tannin is exquisite with wonderful polish and refinement. Lasts for minutes.

Very deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Opus One soars out of the glass with bright, bold boysenberries, warm cassis and ripe, juicy black plums notes, plus emerging nuances of lilacs, oolong tea, cinnamon stick, tilled soil and black truffles. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with tightly wound layers of crunchy black fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with lifted fruitiness and on a lingering mineral note.


🏅 Decanter 98 pts

Power and concentration from the start but with a lovely vein of cool blue fruits and an invigoratingly fresh core. Dark chocolate, coffee, blueberries and pomegranate combine to give a seductive nose and follow through on the palate with an immediate burst of juicy acidity and plush tannins. Layered and nuanced, the texture is striking, elegant and precise with juice that his the side of the mouth supported by oak spice that gently frames the overall feeling giving balance. Abundant in a sense but also reigned in making you want another glass straight away. 80% wild yeast fermentation for the first time as of the 2018 vintage.


🏅 Jeb Dunnuck 97 pts

This deep purple-hued effort leans to lively, fresher side of the vintage but has a brilliant, utterly classic style in its crème de cassis and blue-tinged fruit as well as notes of lead pencil, candied violets, damp earth, and chocolate-like nuances. With a Pomerol-like elegance and purity, it's medium to full-bodied and has wonderful tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. It plays in the finesse-driven end of the spectrum yet is concentrated and seamless, with serious length. It offers pleasure today but should benefit from 4-5 years in the cellar, and my money is on it evolving for 30 years or more.

The 2018 Opus One is absolutely exquisite. Bright red berry fruit, crushed flowers, mint and spice are all finely cut. The2018 impresses with its energy and focus. lt's a gorgeous wine, and is also showing especially well today, with all of thepotential l first saw in barrel very much on display. Bright acids linger on the persistent finish. The 2018 is supremelyelegant.

The fruit is decidedly restrained in style, without the vivid punch typical of the vintage, but the gently mulled currant, cherry and bitter plum flavors are well-delineated and persistent, while notable savory, thyme and tobacco leaf notes play a prominent role alongside. There's a racy beam of acidity piercing through it all and a lingering iron note on the finish. An excellent example of the style.

A little sweeter than the Monte Bello 2011 tasted alongside initially but it finishes dry and appetising – and definitely has a bordeaux-like structure. Impressively long.

The purity of fruit is really something else here, with currants and fresh flowers, such as violets and roses. Flower stems as well. Fantastic length and structure to the wine, with tightness and focus. Wonderful fruit. Graceful. A blend of 78% cabernet sauvignon, 8% merlot, 7% petit verdot, 6% cabernet franc and 1% malbec.

Winemaker Michael Silacci commented that usually the blends are finished in January or February after the vintage. This year, with the 2019s, he was still tweaking the blend, but he did mention that this is "pretty close to the final blend."

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Opus One leaps from the glass with notes of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, mulberries and fresh blackcurrants plus hints of licorice, wilted roses, Sichuan pepper and iron ore. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with juicy black, blue and red fruits, framed by velvety tannins and background freshness, finishing on a compelling earthy/mineral note. Tasted as a barrel sample, this is a truly magnificent Opus One in the making!

 Intensely perfumed on the nose, rose petals, violets, deeply scented and seductive. Rich yet expansive on the palate, very open with dark chocolate, cherries, fragrant blackcurrant - sweet and scented, with satin-like tannins that effortlessly support the flavours. There is real drive and persistency to this, fresh, youthful and alive with a vibrant juiciness that is so appealing. No one element is too dominant, this feels harmonious and balanced with an excellent tangy acidity and long minty, herbal finish with edges of tobacco and dark chocolate. A classic Opus with breadth, finesse and energy. Grapes were harvested 10 days earlier than average, on 10th September with harvest lasting four weeks. 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec complete the blend. Ageing 19 months in new French oak. 


🏅 Vinous 97 pts

The 2019 Opus One shows off the more opulent side of the vintage to great effect. Sumptuous dark fruit, spice and floral accents wrap around the palate, with a fair amount of new oak adding volume and exotic flair. This is an especially showy Opus One that will drink well with minimal cellaring


🏅 Jeb Dunnuck 97 pts

The 2019 Opus One is brilliant and certainly a worthy follow-up to the 2018. Pure cassis fruits, notes of violets, rose petals, and lead pencil, medium to full body, nicely integrated background oak, and terrific tannins all define this beauty, and while it has the vintage's up-front charm, it's going to age beautifully for 20+ years as well. The blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec.


🏅 Wine Spectator 95 pts

Elegantly styled, despite some serious heft, this offers a mix of alluring mulberry, griotte and cassis notes bearing a gently mulled edge, while flashes of apple wood, sweet bay leaf and red tea flicker along the edges. Very refined in feel, with seamless structure extending the finish so the fruit can linger. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink now through 2038.
